Did you try rotating/wiggling the connector in the Hi-MD mic input a
few times? Its not likely to be intermittent output from the mic
capsules.  As both mics went affected at once, I would also look at
the powering for the mic/phantom unit. See suggestion below**

If you can get it to happen again, with the recorder still in
record-pause mode, (1) wiggle the connector 3.5mm input connector to
the Hi-MD (2) try re-seating new batteries in the Art (or Rode). (2)
try another cable from the mic to the recorder (or Art Phantom to the
recorder). That would be my list of likely suspects. Rob D.

**You might want to record files to compare of the NT-4 with and
without the Art Phantom in the circuit. If there's no attenuation pad
in the NT-4 cable, the output/performance should be very very similar
and you may be able to simplify your connections and leave your Art
Phantom at home.
