Thanks to all for this interesting thread - like Tim and I guess
others I am looking to move on from my RH1.
I am a little confused by the file size problem. Do all computers have
a limit on the file they can cope with?
The Sony is stated as a max of 4 GB memory sticks - does this mean it
cant use (Sony's own) 8 GB sticks? Is this because the recording takes
place on the internal memory and is then transferred to the memory stick?
What happend when the recorders reach the maximum file size - do they
shut down and save the file - or is it lost?
I like the possibilites the Olympus and Sony offer for point and shoot
recoding, the pre-record buffer on the Sony, and its battery life.
The FR2LE seems to be the way forward (assuming the new Edirol is
noisier) for economical quality with phantom power. One thing I am
curious about (from the wrong side of the Atlantic) is how the Oade
Bros modified recorders - say this and the Tascam HD-P2 - compare to
the SD recorders - can anyone comment?
Sorry for the ramble.
Andrew.
