I'm beginning to wonder if the FRLE2 I tried was busted, because I
could hear a huge difference in the sound quality. The Fostex had a
ridiculous amount of 'grunge' down in the noise floor. On quiet
recordings, we kept hearing 'high pitch squealing' and what sounded
very much to us like electrical interference, like the internal
electronics of the FRLE2 were being picked up, like poor internal
shielding, poor capacitors. It was subtle, but clearly audible.
But for build quality, the Fostex feels like it was made by Hasbro, it
feels like a toy.
