I tried doing this sort of calculation once, but realized you need a loud
signal to make it work. If the signal is soft and the preamps are running a=
t
full gain, then it's only the mic noise floor that matters. Sensitivity
still plays a role determining how loud the signal is above the noise floor=
,
but in post a noisy, sensitive mic will produce the same S/N as the quieter=
,
less sensitive mic when the noise floors are equalized.
