Once the 2GB limit is reached, the LS-10 saves the file and stops.

I didn't notice anything special about the headphone output volume. 
It was adequate for my testing.  The LS-10 works as an MP3 or WMA file
player, managing files with iTunes and Windows Media Player.  So I
expect the playback volume was designed with this in mind.
