Many thanks!  It's very valuable to have a range of recorders tested
using similar procedures.  Otherwise, all we would have are people
like me saying, "That recorder sounded good to me when I had it for 2
days last year."

It's worth noting that Dr. Specht's tests, made with the preamp volume
turned up to maximum, represent a sort of worst-case scenario for
preamp self-noise.  This test procedure is reasonable for nature
recording because we frequently need to boost the gain to capture low
SPL sounds.
