I received a couple of emails recently from people looking for recommendations of gear that will be used for recording material with lots of low frequency sound. For example, a traditional west African percussion band. What mics and recording techniques work best for low frequency material? I'm interested in sound audible by the human ear, not elephant infrasound. Perhaps an example from nature would be grouse drumming and booming. Do mics with large diaphragm diameter work better for low frequency sounds? --oryoki |
