I see the newest model is now referred to as, "EM-23 PIP."

the model that will run on the lower voltage supplied by Hi-MD PIP

Hi-MD is good, but the Fostex FR2-lE, is tempting if you can live
with the larger size. I suppose one could operate the EM-23's on a
battery power supply with the Fostex,.. He'll probably groan at the
suggestion ;-) ,.. He worked so hard to make the EM-23's small and
compatible with Hi-MD PIP. Very sorry about your gear mishap. Rob D.
