You'll probably encounter more distant subjects in the field you can
experiment with too.
What are some applications?
(1) Recordists who work with dishes might prefer to carry one rig
into the field with the ability to record with a dish and make stereo
ambient recordings when more appropriate.
(2) In the "mix" position, the ability to more easily produce and
share stereo field recordings that provide some sense of the surround
without sacrificing sufficient gain on the desired call.
Again, I'm surprised someone hasn't pointed out a problem with this
solution, but it sounds impressive to me! :-) Rob D.
