Well there was the time we were charged by an elephant while driving
around a game reserve near Kruger Park in South Africa.  That was
pretty hairy.  I was trying to stay focused on the meters while we
were flooring it in reverse.  You can hear this encounter here:

On the same trip we were camped out watching some lions tuck into a
giraffe and I dropped one of my batteries over the side of the truck.
 I spent 20 minutes trying to figure out ways to get it without
getting out of the truck [that would be a bad idea give the
circumstances].  Anyway, I couldn't get it that evening:

Other than that I almost went into shock from mosquito bites in
Delaware.  Greg Weddig can tell you all about that one.  I tell you,
if I ever go back to Prime Hook NWR on a September dawn, I am taking
EXTRA protection:)
