It makes you wonder if Treadwell would have wanted anyone to hear what happened
in those last moments? Or if the lens cap was off, would?he would have wanted
us to see that as well??
He was doing his best to get the message out there about the bears, he was
constantly saying how dangerous they could be and was aware that he could die
doing what he was doing (and was ok with that) It makes ya wonder if he would
have been ok with everyone seeing or hearing his death with all the other
footage as a whole? If so, would anyone want to hear that? I think Herzog did
the right thing by telling the lady to destroy the tape, I certainly wouldn't
be able to handle hearing that, ultra-charged downer of a sound experience is
right!?
Sorry if this has been mentioned already in the thread.

It is somewhat heart wrenching to watch in the movie "Grizzly Man" when
Werner Herzog is listening to an audio recording (-under headphones so
the audience cannot hear-) of the moments when Timothy Treadwell and his
girlfriend are being mauled and devoured by the bear. Herzog told the
owner of the tape that she should destroy it. It certainly must be an
ultra-charged downer of a sound experience. Though he was a seemingly
quirky human, Treadwell was diligent about keeping his recording
equipment running to capture interesting moments like this. - TA
