Yes, very rarely do my NR attempts sound as good as EQ alone when evaluating the attempts with fresh ears in the morning. If the HF noise has a tight, "edgy" or "gritty" quality (opposed to a "fuzzy hiss") it can be effective to "drill-out" these (often several) prominent noise features with very narrow bandwidths of parametric EQ. When I find myself trying to treat noise below 4000Hz with anything, I know I'm setting myself up for what Dan describes perfectly. Rob D. -- |
