Actually, the current fastest cards are 300x. But you need a UDMA compatible reader to get that speed. Not sure what brands there are yet. Sony released a 300x card series with the a700, but that's not the only brand of them. The a700 is capable of shooting at 5 frames a second, and it's files are up to 18mb each. The buffer fills fairly quickly even with the fast cards if shooting raw. Then you are waiting for a bunch of photos to store before you can shoot again. Fast cards are essential if you do burst shooting, like birds in flight. Of course prices of super fast cards are higher. Walt |
