Greg,
Thanks for the inspiration.
I am making a modification this weekend which will allow the recorder
 to be rotated 180 degrees and locked in position so that the
left-right stereo is maintained when the unit is either tripod mounted
or handheld.
Sample recordings may be be posted nextweek.
