I have recovered data off of both external and internal HDs with a very simple method. Using Linux. Three External Hard drives that Windows or OS would not recognize were recovered by plugging them in on my Ubuntu Computer. I have recovered data off of many internal Hard drives by using a Ubuntu or Knoppix boot up disc which runs the operating system from the DVD drive. Once the system is running then it is just a matter of plugging in an external HD and transferring all the data. It does not work all of the time, but drives usually become unreadable to Windows [and mac but less so] long before they are to Linux so this should always be the first step in trying to recover data. Its the cheapest. Aaron CHECK OUT www.custommarimba.com For marimba, mbira, mallets, and hosho. |
