I bought a super cheap tripod at Radio shack for $10. It made it through one trip, but I did not want to chance another. I ended up getting a Gitzo 1057 tripod that is only 1 pound, carbon fiber - VERY nice -- and extends up to about 4.5 feet. It seems to be heavy enough for the job. A little over $250. NOt cheap, but I like my Gitzos and of course part of the fun is having gear you like. I can take this on backpacking trips for mic or camera. George |
