The Sharp MD-DR7, IM-DR470 and IM-DR480 (versions of the same recorder sold to different markets) all have pre-roll, which Sharp calls "trace back recording." The minimum pre-roll time is 5 seconds, long enough for the recordist to wake up and release record/pause. The MD-DR7 was introduced in early 2003, and replaced in Sharp's lineup about a year later. It's a great recorder if you can find one. --oryoki |
