PZM mods pt deux

I have read all the mods available online
but wanted to know if anyone has simply cut the coax going to the
battery box and stuck a 3.5mm plug on the end of it
while reversing the leads from the capsule to the plug as follows:


original circuit:

|mic|---coax cable--XsnipX---|power supply|----twinax cable---1/4"
phono plug

=3D



becomes:

=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D
|mic|---coax cable--3.5mm plug [[black lead to tip//red lead to GND]]
=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D


the capsule would be powered by the PIP of the recording device


has anyone tried this without technical problems?
