These mikes take a single AA battery that gives them roughly 1.5 volt.

But you can also use two 6 volt short batteries in series in that same
battery slot--Radio Shack 23-469, Duracell PX28AB, A 544 or 4LR44--to deliv=
er 12
volts to the circuit. This improves noise and headroom specs, and increases=

runtime to hundreds of hours.

It's not quite as convenient or cheap as running on PIP, but it's a better=

supply rail. Remove batteries from the slot when not in use to conserve bat=
tery
life.
