I have an unknown Duck to id. NW Wisconsin yesterday, but likely is an international species. Recording in snow and wind while wearing the Guille suit I could not use the optics to get a good enough look. What I thought I saw was a diving, small, round, black headed duck, with white sidewalls. Males display by arching their heads back all the way to the water while swimming. Sound is like an old antique party favor toy. I thought Lesser Scaup by my eyes but the sound once I got home I don't think is right for that. I am now dreaming for it to be a Golden Eye. 800kb download, file edited to help snow and wind. http://home.comcast.net/~richpeet/scaup.mp3 Mics held together fine all the way to being snow and ice packed. Any help is appreciated otherwise will figure it out sometime with more work. Rich Peet |
