Ernst,
It's not foolhardy. I use a Schoeps ORTF setup in a stereo rycote
zepplin, i don't have a photo of it handy so I'll do my best to
describe it.
Inside the stereo zepplin i have a back to back Schoeps mic clip, to
each clip I mount a CMC6/GVC/MK21, each capsule is at either end of
the zepplin with the proper angle set, which is the reason for the GVCs.
In this configuration the zepplin is side addressed. I have never
been able to use this setup handheld however, since I have never taken
the time to tweak my elastic. Most of the nature recording I do uses
stationary mics so it typically is not an issue. The weight of the
mics, connectors and cables in this configuration tend to wiggle
around in the zepp when moving. If I walk about with this setup I
find myself having to reset the GVCs because they tend to be a bit
looser than I like.
I might suggest the Schoeps active cable that separates the CMC from
the capsule, lightening the load in the shock mount.
You will find that many of us on this list have to create our own
solutions because the audio industry does not make exactly what we
need. Or make it for the right price. You will find a lot of
ingenuity in these posts and may find yourself answering these same
questions for someone else someday.
Good luck,

for walking around with an ORTF/NOS setup like a crazy person...?
e.g., Schoeps
CMC6/
MK4s with W 20 R 1 windshields? Or is that a foolhardy quest?"
