I too have been biting my lip regrading the discussion of the FR2LE
and see that Klas has started the ball rolling !

Hi Klas, I take it you agree my two sound samples I sent you this
week sounded comparable, one with phantom power, the other with your
power box ? If those files sounded like yours then the repair has
not worked ! If the two files sounded the same as each other then
the repair must have worked.

EM62.

It was actually a ME67 but would imagine the same scenario. This is
what alerted me it was the recorder that was at fault and not the
Pro6.

My noise was generally evident on startup and would normalize after
up to 12 minutes but could return if the machine was switched off. I
always use the pre record stand-by buffer and never go into
recording by hitting the red record button.

The only thing I can say is that mine appears to be fixed now - that
is, when comparing using Phantom Power running the Pro 6 to using it
with a power box Klas made for me there seems to be no or little
difference. However, all I have got to go on is how bad it sounded
before and my repaired Fr2 may in fact sound like Klas's FR2 that he
is unhappy with !

The fact that even with Klas's machine he can use a power box to by-
pass the problem. However, I would agree this is not acceptable on a
prosumer recorder like the FR2 and if mine really is fixed it begs
the question why those of Klas and his colleague are not the same,
and also that mine was faulty initially is also somewhat worrying.

Maybe the FR2LE will redeem all this ? I know this deals with a
personal issue but I hope that members can agree that it is
definitely "on topic" given recent posts on FR2LE.
