Last Fall, 120 students did transfers with NH700/SonicStage v3.4
without incident. I haven't felt the need to do a comparison with v4
because there are no key feature differences and reports of errors
with v4 were surfacing.

I'm not sure if the "access error" that Chris Hails' addressed with
v4.2 and his RH910 is the same error or problem, but software
un-install/re-installation, itself, could be advisable. Chris also
suggests renaming the files and transferring them one at a time
(RH910/v4.2). You could try his suggestions on a couple of practice
disks. Some people have reported that they feel file renaming is
riskier but this hasn't been our experience with NH700/v3.4.

Having to re-try 5-10 times does not sound right. I'd un-install v4
and first re-install v3.4 if you have an older unit like a NH700. You
should be able to get a combination that works.

Lastly, two students recently showed me two NH700-generated files
that would not transfer when selected individually but would transfer
when the group folder they were in was selected. First I've seen
this.

I formatted 3 of 10 1GB discs when I first got my NH900. 2 of the 3
developed errors. I started leaving the factory format in place used,
"Erase All." As no discs have developed problems since, I maintained
the "Erase All" practice. Not a conclusive test-- just no contrary
evidence as yet. Rob D.
