Hi Oryoki,
in these weeks I had no time to make accurate tests. I'm
waiting to receive a Rolls PB224 to test it with the Rode NT1A that I
consider a reference. The mic preamplifiers have more gain than the
722 but they are noisier. My firts impression is that the MR-1 is
noisier than the M-Audio MT2496 but I want to complete the tests to
say something definitive and to possibly separate the mic pre noise
and the intrinsic AD/DA noise. A test on the MR-1000 published in
Italy tells that the sound quality is excellent but the noise floor
is high, higher than the noise floor of a CD. The real AD resolution
tested in DSD mode is 13.6-13.8 bits and consequently the dynamic
range is only 84-85 dB. That is truly disappointing.
Other than this disappointing performance it is important to say that
the noise increases with frequency and thus for all those interested
in recording ultrasounds the dynamic range is further reduced. With
the MR-1 I get less than 50dB dynamic range above 50 kHz.
