To measure the gain, apply a small signal to the input and measure what comes out. Complications include presenting an appropriate input impedance (150-ohm source in the pad) and accounting for the effect the loading of the preamp input has on the pad (-measure- the small signal on the source resistor, don't assume). Where there is no analog output, like an MD recorder, I dunno! -Dan Dugan |
