My SD chip or external usb2 drive is faster than the internal. But then I am getting over 8 hours of use between recharge. I guess for my type of use I would rather be able to run an entire day on a battery more than I care about drive seek time. If you want 20 hours of time out of this machine you have to replace the cd drive with a second battery. The heat is handled by the metal case. This is not a light laptop and I have never seen it switch to low gear from heat although it can. Rich |
