I've never had any problem with noise from the Y cables I use. I make my
own. My main runs are on 5 pin cables with breakout Y's at each end.

For the Y in the M/S I use the smaller star quad cables stripped out of
a Canare snake cable. I cover those with braided fabric. The fabric
source has been tubular boot laces, and I've also used braided kevlar tube.
