Friends: The file http://math.uc.edu/~pelikan/24-nov-06.mp3 was recorded in a wooded ravine in Cincinnati (southwestern Ohio) about 9:00 PM --- several hours after sunset. I've heard it after dark for over a month now, but never managed to see what's making the sounds They were originally spaced about 30 sec apart and I've cut out most of what was between them. Any idea what made these sounds? Once I saw eyes shine in my light beam from a couple feet above the ground. My only thought is a White-tailed Deer (there's lots around), but I've never heard one say anything like this= . As always, thanks for any hints, suggestions, references, etc. Steve P |
