I have been using a Telinga Pro 6 for a few months with a Fostex FR2
and am experiencing a really strange phenomena.
On starting the FR2 from cold and going into standby recording there
is a rumbling noise on top of the self hiss that can be heard
through the headphones. After 2-5 minutes this noise cuts out ( with
a click ) and the self noise is acceptable(?). This rumbling noise
is recorded on to audio tracks which is not great.
The first time I was aware of this noise I actually thought it was a
generator running in the background at one of my regular sites -
that's how bad it is.
I use the FR2 on stereo, 44.1, 16 bit and use phantom power to run
the Pro6, which is set in the middle position. I use a Tekkeon "My
Power Lithium" rechargeable set on 12 volts in to the DC of the FR2,
but it also makes this noise with x8 AA rechargables in the machine
itself.
I also have a ME67 and this doesn't create or induce this noise
which is making me suspect the Pro6 mic / recorder combination.
However, once the noise cuts, the FR2 can be switched on and off
with no problems. Seems ridiculous to say it but it is like the mic
needs to warm up ?!
Has anyone else experienced this and solved it ? Is there a problem
with my mic or my recorder ? What do you think Klas ?
Cheers,
Lindsay
