Hi all - Was wondering if you folks might be able to offer suggestions for or share experiences with a good field preamp match for MKH 70/Fostex FR- Message: 2. Subject: We'll be primarily recording animal calls from >10m in pretty open spaces. I want to ensure that input headroom isn't a problem. Using RANE's table, it appears that the max output level of the mic is +6 dBu. I'm unsure on trying to identify the maximum input voltage rating of various preamp models. On several models that I am looking at (based on some earlier helpful posts on field amps), I do not see "maximum input voltage rating" but I do see specs like, "Input clipping level" (for Sound Devices models), but the value given is a minimum. Any insight or field reports would be very welcome! -Estelle |
