as a rank amateur novice recorder who transitioned over
from the audiophile 'playback' end of the recording chain,
I am rather curious what level of investment recordists
typically make in their speakers (and headphone, to a lesser extent).
as we debate the difference between analog and digital, I
think we might all still agree that the mechanical-electrical
coupling has the (potential for) more significant impact on what we
hear than other aspects of the recording/playback chain.
I, for one, would love to hear what others use for
critical listening 'in room', and 'in/on ear'(e.g. headphones).
Cheers,
clay
PS, I listen in-room via Audio Physic Virgos driven by Pass Aleph 30
amplifier, and Dehavilland Ultraverve tube preamp.
In-ear, I use Etymotics Research ER 4S and also ER 4P.
on-ear, I use Grado SR-80, but mostly listen in-ear these days.
