I don't know how many of us have listening areas that can resolve -70
to -100 db but I would agree atrac is weaker than 24 bit in the low
bit arena.  But then my recording chain for 24 bit is a whole lot
different than for 16 bit or atrac.

For me I have to shut down the water tank filter and kick out the
family from the house to work low bit at natural level.  It is nice to
have a field stone house that can handle it.

For converting the overall gain on "B" recordings to "A" recordings
you need every bit you can get all of the time.
