I think probably the closest thing to sound forge would be Biak Peak,
which like Sound Forge is a pretty comprehensive two track editor. Is
audition a multitrack? If so, then Nuendo would probably be the
closest thing I can think of.

I'd include ProTools, but in reality, it needs hardware to run,
unlike Audition or Nuendo.

Also, Apple's Logic Pro and new Soundtrack Pro would be worth looking
at. Logic more for music, and Soundtrack more for film or TV work.

None of them are cheap.
