Has anyone else experienced problems using unbalanced and/or impedance mis-matched inputs to the SD 722? Using either my homemade piezoelectric contact mics or my new Core Sound binaurals, I get noticeable electromagnetic interference from the hard drive writing when recording. The only solution I've found is to use a pair of passive DI boxes to balance the signal and convert it to a low impedance that the 722 can handle. But the pair is just as big as my 722, which hardly makes for a small, stealthy kit!!! If anyone else has this problem, drop me a line and let me know how you worked around it. A reply to my inquiry from Sound Devices is still pending. best, d. -- derek holzer ::: http://www.umatic.nl ---Oblique Strategy # 104: "Listen in total darkness, or in a very large room, very quietly" |
