My primary rig uses a MKH 40/80 Front and NT1-A's ORTF Rear and
records to SD744T. The experimental 4 ch rig I can afford at the
moment is a little like double M-S. It uses an AT-3032/MKH30 pair
for Up/Side and an opposing MBHO omni pair for Front and Rear Mids.
The AT-3032 omni is directed "up" because I play the center channel
trough an overhead monitor in installations. I can use sample delay
and double the mkh-30 as the rear "side" channels and a couple of
other patches. These four mics use Rolls phantom supplies and record
to two Hi-MD recorders. Not suggested for purists to be sure. The
extra "stuff" at the campout Rich referred to belongs the University.
I had their 744T rig with an MKH 30 and 3 NT1-A's.

I'm happy to answer other questions off-list. Rob D.
