I have resisted commenting on equip for the last 6 months because I am a minimal sort of recordist and have become a bit dated in my own equipment. IMHO there is nothing minimal about working in figure 8's. If you are looking for a minimal yet flexible setup for surround than omni's are the way to go. And as a comment I have not seen much that Rob has failed to attempt or evaluate for configurations. He does this part from dedication and part from having access to "stuff".
