I made one from an acrylic disk and some composite Sonex foam I
had laying around; modern Sonex foam with essentially the same thing
as your Dynamat bonded to the back. I've only tested it with
a pair of Oktava MC-012.
The stereo image was good but it was too "dead". The whole sandwich was
probably 6cm thick, and it was also very heavy. If I try it again I think
I will try a cut-up short-pile sheepskin seatcover.
