Yes, all Hi-MD recorders can create WAV files. Use Sony's SonicStage software to transfer the files to a PC via USB, and Sony's WAV Importer software to transfer to a Mac. WAV Importer is available only with the MZ-M10 and MZ-M100 models. To find the 1400mAh battery, search using eBay or Froogle for "Sony NH-14WM." There was a discussion here a few days ago about recording loud natural sounds like ocean surf and waterfalls. The posts included links to recordings. The message thread starts at message # 21288.
