I have to admit that the new Audition 2 is a million times more advanced
than 1.5. I have beta tested it for over a month and I will not go back to
1.5.
Before I was working with 5.1 or multi channels from my SD744,
I had to transfer files into Cubasis because Adobe Audition would split
files into 4 and not allow separation within the program.
There are many changes to the interface and it adds up to a more streamline
professional looking and feeling program.
Agreed, not much for just stereo recordists.
But one of the many additions to the program is a very smart lasso selectio=
n
tool, very cool for filtering out from within spectral view, not unlike
Raven 1.5

Adobe Audition released version 2.0 this week.
The only thing addressed by this version of any benefit are for the
people recording many tracks, or high data rates, or need very low
latency. Not a needed upgrade for stereo recordists at normal rates.
They gave a better engine to the program and now support ASIO drivers
which also are the driver of choice for many multitrack 24/96 recordists.
Recording with a dsp that has a 0 cpu load and using an external drive
for data also helps a lot. I was able to record with my setup at 4
track 24/96 using a 233 mhz "junk" laptop but not with Audition version 1.
