I assume you are having problems with files from both recorders. Assuming
this to be true the problem is not likely with the recorders as it is
unlikely both would go bad at the same time. Do the recordings sound good
when you listen to them through the minidisk recorder using headphones?

If they do then I would suspect a bad sound card or possibly a corrupted
copy of cooledit.

I have been using cool edit for many years with no problems but I have had
to replace sound cards about 4 times.

Good luck in solving the problem.
