I KNOW John Hartog is but if there are any others please contact Senator
Gordon Smith and urge him to vote in support of a procedural move to remove
Arctic drilling from the Defense bill. We need Smith's vote!
Senator Ted Stevens has managed to inject Arctic drilling into the Defense
Appropriations bill. This bill passed the House early this morning and is
now heading for the Senate.
Washington Senator Cantwell is leading the charge to get Arctic out of the
defense bill, first through a procedural vote, then if necessary on a
filibuster.
We are helping out our colleagues in Oregon by phoning TONIGHT.
If you have friends or relatives in Oregon please contact them and ask them
to call Senator Smith's office. He needs to hear loud and clear from
constituents about taking a stand on firm Arctic, this time around! This is
not about funding for our men and women in uniform. It is a cynical and
desperate attempt by Stevens to attach Arctic drilling to any bill that
moves.
