I use sony 7506 and sennheiser hd25.
Yes, these are expensive headphones but like everything else, you get=20
what you pay for.
The hd25 are great for isolating from the surrounding noise and the=20
7506 give you more of a feel of what it'll sound like on speakers.=20
99% of the time on location i use the hd25 (not sp, these are a=20
cheaper model) they make an ipod sound great too!
I don't understand your reason for not wanting isolating headphones ,=20
you want to listen to what your mic's are picking up , not a mix of=20
recorder and "location".
