have seen. I would add a code section devoted to citations and other
data that support it, for two reasons: (1) unsupported statements are
weaker than supported ones. I'm guessing that the weight of this group
would mean something, but the weight of the ABA statement has, according
to several comments, not stopped a lot of birders from indiscriminate
use. If one could point to hard data it might change behavior more than
a simple, 'because they say so'. (2) It's always good to know the truth,
whichever way it takes us.
