Anthony,

I cannot locate a MD-DR77 manual online, but I
did find a couple of posts that said the
pre-record mode was the only function deleted
when Sharp moved from DR7 to DR77.  :-(

So it appears that the DR7 is the only
consumer minidisc model with the pre-roll
function (called 'trace back' by Sharp.)
