Dear Ariadne,

Thanks for your input. My knowledge on the funcionality of speakers and oth=
er electronic issues is fairly shallow, so please be sure that the followin=
g question is done with all respect and it is not a provocation.

I've been using RadioShack miniamp for few months only, nevertheless birds =
have responded to playback very well so far. I know some other ornithologis=
ts who have used RadioShack for over a year and birds also respond to their=
playbacks. So here is the question: if birds respond to playback in a sati=
sfatory way, what is the matter of these electronic features of the miniamp=
? Are the $200 speakers so much better (specially in bird response) that I =
should spend half of what I earn a month to get one?

Hi folks,

A word of caution on the Radio Shack 277-1008C
miniamp: A few years back I did a calibration test on
one such unit, from 1-15 kHz in intervals of 500 Hz.
The frequency response curve was anything but smooth.
In addition, response dropped dramatically from 11.5
kHz upwards.

Cheers,

Ariadne.
