It looks to me like the Rode D-PowerPlug is explicitly for
dynamic mics (hence the "D-" in the name). It's positioned as a
cable-driver, from what they say on their site. For some reason,
they avoid any mention of using it with condensers. I'm not sure
if this answers the question, but it's all I can find on their
site.
