Maybe its not "all about the audio," as the sales rep says in the
video, and some about the way the recorder looks? ;-) I agree that
M-S would be very logical and X-Y would based on known principles.
(When I experiment with two cardioids,  it takes at least 4-5" spread
in Near Coincidence fashion to create enough timing difference to
distinguish it from X-Y.)

Guess were going to see more niche production and more discussion on
lists to sort it out. Sony might reason that reporters who understand
M-S are not as likely to be interested in fashion and vice versa, but
its kind of a bummer to have to deal with.  Rob D.
