Hmm, this is running it through the MS filter? The MKH mics should be=20
pretty close to each other. There might be some level discrepancies,=20
I wouldn't worry too much about it. But make sure that you don't have=20
the gain range set differently for the inputs, each can be set to=20
either high or low.
But if the channels are linked, they should be close.
In case you need batteries for your 722, here's a very good deal on=20
them:

I have three. There is a slight problem that the pins on the battery=20
have a tendency to come out slightly as you remove a battery from the=20
722, so you have to be a bit careful.
Also from that page you can find cheap chargers. The $42 batteries=20
seem to power the unit for about 4 hours or so, pretty good.
I think the Cornell Bird program makes a program called Raven, which=20
is supposed to be very good for analyzing sounds for the info you're=20
looking for. And it's probably written for nature recordists.
Hey, if you get any really great recordings, I'd love to hear some. I=20
actually work in the film sound FX business, and if you get any=20
really great rainforest recordings, birds, etc, the film I'm working=20
on (Pirates of the Caribbean 2) might even be willing to buy some of=20
them. Just a thought. I'm hoping to go to Costa Rica and record in=20
January, if I can find the time off.
But curious what kinds of things you're going to be recording down=20
there? I envy you. My first love is recording, and if I could change=20
jobs, I'd find something in bio-acoustics somehow. But I'd love to=20
hear about your project.
