<<How does the record level setting work on this model? Is it possible
to set a precisely repeatable gain?>>>
The recording level is based on the same principles as the Sony DR7.
There are two options, auto (AGC) and manual. Levels run from 0 to 30 using
the jog wheel, I had it set at about 15 last night while recording loud
music, most of it was distorted and needed better monitoring from me (There
was a lot of security there so I had one eye on the recorder and the other
on them)
The Auto setting has fair limiters buffering much of the noise but not
really acceptable...
I have to say though, up to now this is a great little recorder at the
price....
This is a recording made with the MZ M100 using the ECM mic that comes free
with it. Unfiltered. MP3 2:00mins....
