True, I should tape that slot over. I don't bother with CF any more
because it'll only record an hour of 4 channels. The "upcoming" 744T
firmware upgrade is expected to enable one to record to an external
hard firewire drive AND the internal drive at the same time. This
would essientially permit a 40GB "swap out." You'd confirm that the
files are on the external drive and wipe the internal drive, slap on
a new external drive and leave for  as long as 36 hours of 4chX24/48.
Still not cheap at ~ $100 per 40GB external drive. They run on 12vdc.

Thanks for the info Martin. The "wallet" sounds like a great solution
for most walk-around recording.  Rob D.
